Judge Gayle Nelson Vogel
Iowa Court of Appeals
Gayle Nelson Vogel was appointed to the Iowa Court of Appeals in 1996. Prior to her appointment, she worked in private practice in Knoxville, Iowa. Vogel served on the board of directors for several business and civic groups. She also served on the Grievance Commission for the Iowa State Bar Association and was co-chair of the Iowa Court Improvement Project.
While serving on the juvenile law committee of the Iowa Judges Association, Vogel was instrumental in developing rules to expedite appeals in child dependency cases. In 1994, Judge Vogel was awarded the Chamber of Commerce Business Woman of the Year Award. In 2015, Vogel was appointed to serve on the Judicial Technology Committee, which aligns technology with the business plans of the judicial branch. She has also served on the Probate Bench Book Team.
Born in Rockford, Ill., Vogel graduated cum laude from Rockford College in 1971 and earned her law degree from Drake Law School, Order of the Coif, in 1983.
